 "Immediately Ennobled" is a traditional Chinese auspicious pattern that has evolved since ancient times. It is composed of the zodiac symbols of the marquis and the horse. In the design, a monkey is depicted riding on the horse’s back to evoke the meaning of “riding immediately,” and because “monkey” (猴) is a homophone of “marquis” (侯), the combination conveys the phrase “Immediately Ennobled.” The Liji: Wangzhi (Book of Rites: The King's System) records: “In the king’s system of rewards, there are five ranks: Duke, Marquis, Count, Viscount, and Baron.” In the ancient nobility system, the marquis is ranked second, so “Immediately Ennobled” is also imbued with the meaning of “rapid promotion” and “a bright future.”
